How I set up the system three product teams built on, and designed reading features for a component we didn't own.
ROLE
Senior Product Designer, then Product Design Manager. Managed 4 designers; set design direction across 3 pods.

Authoring guide, component rules, interaction UI kit direction, library approvals, reviews, Passage feature designs.
RESULT
Three grades of lessons delivered for the California submission on one shared system. Fewer questions and less rework.
01 • CONTEXT
Three years became six months
A new middle-school curriculum, three grades and 19 units in the pilot, had a three-year roadmap. It turned into six months for a California version. Three pods designed in parallel while 30+ content creators wrote lessons. The risk was a curriculum where every unit felt like it came from a different product.
